I suspect any serious attempt at change, no matter the pace or how strategically graduated, is likely to be met with rope, a possible explanation for DD's off the wall overreaction. Wider unionization among adjuncts could drive change and would protect gains, but I'm not willing either to abandon colleagues who live and teach where unionization is not an option, neither feasible nor safe.
