Continental Ignorance

I posted a Louis Black video a few weeks ago in which he made fun of people who believed that man and dinosaurs lived side by side. I mostly thought that he was exaggerating. As it turns out, he wasn’t. This wacky guy– “Charley” believes exactly that and he is not alone. Here Charley tries to prove that continental drift is actually evidence of the Great Flood and Noah’s Arc. I am not making that up. Like Black said, you can’t be kind about this kind of thing. Still, Charley is his own best parody.

Dr. Kent Hovind (aka Dr. Dino) is the probably the best known Creationist to argue that the Earth is not as old as science says, and that the fossils evidence must therefore illustrate that dinosaurs and people co-existed. Just like the Flintstones! Hovind and his wife were recently convicted of various tax fraud charges and he now contributes to the Creation Science Evangelism Blog from his cell. Here is his post from November 20, a few weeks after his conviction. You can’t make this stuff up. What a contrast these two are to Dr. King’s focus on poverty and justice. He must be turning over in his grave.

About Ray Watkins

I was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital. I grew up in Houston, as a part of what we only half-jokingly call the Cajun Diaspora. At a certain point during the Regan administration, I had to leave, so I served in the Peace Corps, Philippines, from 1987-89. I didn't want to return to the United States just yet, so I moved to Paris, France, where I lived for three years or so. I then moved back to Austin, Texas, where I had received my Masters Degree, and (eventually) began a Ph.D., which I completed in 1999. I spent a year at Temple University and then accepted a position at Eastern Illinois University where I worked until May of 2006. I now work exclusively on line (although that may change) for Johns Hopkins, the Art Institute Online, and Smarthinking.com. I can be reached most easily via email: raywatkins [that 'at' symbol] writinginthewild.com

What does this video and this man, “Charley” have to do with Kent Hovind?

The only mention of “Pangea” that I heard Kent Hovind speak about is its refutation.

On that day, in eternity, we will all learn THE truth, regardless what you or I think.
